Cap Roux Protected Fishery Zone
The Cap Roux zone was chosen because of its biodiversity
to allow fish reproduction (to increase the wealth of species and the quantity
in both weight and size). Its success comes from the presence of habitat, no
fishing allowed, respecting the rules and leaving time to take its course .
Its surface area, about 1.6 sq miles, is today the largest zone of high protection
(all forms of fishing forbidden) around the French coast.
The largest fishing reserve of Continantal France. With an area of 445 ha the
Cap Roux area with its biodiversty, the variety and quality of its local fish
population, also offers ideal surroundings for them to reproduce.
The area is part of the marine Natura 2000. All fishing is prohibited, included
professional fishing amateur fishing, fishing for sea-urchins, underwater fishing
and line fishing...Ministerial law of 3 january 2008.
